Homeless Man Found Dead in Makeshift Shelter

The man was found by his son, who visited his father weekly with food and supplies.

Police have found the body of a man at a makeshift shelter where he had been living near Camp Meade Road.

Officers with Anne Arundel County police discovered the man Thursday at 5 p.m. in a wooded area near the exit ramp on northbound Camp Meade Road onto 695 West.

When authorities arrived, he was found unresponsive, according to a report. Anne Arundel County Fire Department officials pronounced him as deceased shortly after, according to a report.

The man was later identified as Martin Gene Triplett, 61, formally of Linthicum.

The son of the deceased told authorities that his father had been living in the shelter for about three years, and that he would visit the man each week with food and supplies.

"The son discovered his deceased father while presenting for a weekly visit during which time he usually brings food and supplies to the campsite," according to the report.

Authorities said there were no signs of foul play. Triplett's body was sent to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner for autopsy.
