Hundreds Show for Homeless Resource Day

The sixth annual Homeless Resource Day for Anne Arundel County helped hundreds of people from around the county get health checkups, haircuts and housing assistance.

Hundreds of Anne Arundel County's homeless, unemployed and needful took to Glen Burnie High School this weekend for the sixth-annual Homeless Resource Day.

Hugs and compliments served as payment from those in need, for services ranging from haircuts to housing assistance, according to The Maryland Gazette.

From elderly homeless residents to families recovering from financial crises, dozens of people took advantage of the event on Saturday, organized by the Partnership Board to End Homelessness in Anne Arundel County.

"This event has been very successful in helping people get back on their feet and off the street," said Marcia Kennai, director of the county's Department of Social Services, in a press release. "The economy has been very difficult, and we have seen a significant impact on children and families."
