Hurricane Irene: How Did You Make Out?
According to a BGE map, there are reports of thousands of homes without power in the Glen Burnie area. Patch is heading out to get a lay of the land.
Hurricane Irene pounded the Glen Burnie area for much of the night, bringing sustained winds of more than 30 miles per hour with bigger gusts.
Power outages are widespread. Patch readers reported outages in Twin Coves in Glen Burnie and Arundel Neighborhoods in Brooklyn Park.

As of 9 a.m., BGE reported more than 110,000 customers without power in Anne Arundel County, though the company said it had restored service to more than 22,000 customers in the county.
A map of Baltimore Gas and Electric (BGE) outages indicates a few thousand customers in Glen Burnie and Brooklyn Park without electricity.

Electricity is reportedly out in Pinedale Courts, River Run, the Vineyards and Chapel Grove, among other neighborhoods.
According to a BGE press release, numerous new outages are expected to occur Sunday and possibly throughout the next few days.
"BGE's restoration priorities are public safety issues and critical facilities, such as 911 centers, hospitals and pumping stations. Then restoration is generally scheduled so that the greatest number of customers can be restored as quickly and as safely as possible," according to the press release.
BGE will consider customers who have been without service for the "However, in cases of extended power outages, consideration is also given to customers who have been without service for the longest." according to the press release.
Patch received no reports of major damage.
