Man Struck With Baseball Bat, Robbed in Glen Burnie

Police arrested one man, and said the victim sustained serious injuries.

Anne Arundel County police arrested a Glen Burnie man after a victim was hit in the head with a baseball bat and robbed on Wednesday night, according to a department press release.

Shortly after 8:30 p.m., a 40-year-old man walking on Virginia Avenue passed a group of people and was attacked by one of them. A man struck the victim in the head with a baseball bat and stole his cell phones and wallet, according to police.

An emergency crew transported the victim to Shock Trauma with serious but non-life threatening injuries, according to the release.

Investigators eventually identified a suspect and arrested him. Police charged William Lee Haynes, 35, of Glen Burnie, with attempted first- and second-degree murder, first- and second-degree assault, reckless endangerment, disorderly conduct, robbery, armed robbery and two counts of theft.
