  1. Some surgeries will be delayed in Anne Arundel and Prince George's counties. The delays are due to the omicron variant flooding local hospitals. Starting on Jan. 3., non-urgent surgeries that require an overnight stay will be postponed. Urgent, emergency and outpatient surgeries will continue as normal. (Patch)

  3. Driver arrested for marijuana and illegal gun possession in Annapolis. On Dec. 20 at 2:20 a.m., an officer conducted a traffic stop of a white Kia Optima in College Parkway in Annapolis and noticed the odor of marijuana coming from inside the vehicle. A search of the vehicle resulted in the seizure of approximately 34 grams of suspected marijuana and a loaded 9mm Polymer 80 “ghost” handgun. The driver was taken into custody and charged accordingly. (Police Press Release)
