Fire officials said the woman went to the hospital with serious and life-threatening injuries caused by smoke inhalation.

Anne Arundel County fire and rescue workers took a 64-year-old woman to the (BWMC) Thursday afternoon after a fire in her apartment.

The woman was said to have had serious and life-threatening injuries due to smoke inhalation, said fire spokesman Lt. Cliff Kooser. Preliminary information suggested she may have also suffered some burns, he said.

Firefighters responded to the 7800 block of Tall Pines Court at about 3:20 p.m. Thursday for a reported bedroom fire. Kooser said the fire appeared to have been contained to the victim's unit, which was on the third floor. At least two other units had some smoke and water damage, he said.

Another female patient of an unknown age was taken to BWMC with minor injuries once the fire was out, but Kooser said he was unsure if her injuries were related to fire. A third patient was being examined as of 4:15 p.m. but Kooser said he was unsure of the extent of the injuries, if any.
