Police: Glen Burnie Bathroom Camera Not Capable of Recording

Police announced no criminal charges will be brought against the school resource officer suspended after a camera was found in a bathroom at Glen Burnie High School.

The school resource officer who was suspended after authorities discovered a camera installed inside a bathroom at Glen Burnie High School will not face criminal charges, according to the Anne Arundel County Police Department.

School officials found the camera in a boys bathroom on March 20 after being notified by a student, and the police announced the school resource officer had installed the device "on his own volition."

Days after the camera was found, police also seized several computers associated with the officer, but found no images.

The police department said the investigation revealed the camera had no capability to record.

"It was not hooked up to anything, it has no type of battery and nothing to indicate there was any type of recording mechanism," said police spokesman  Lt. T.J. Smith.

Smith said the department worked closely with the state's attorney's office for the county, to determine whether the device constituted a recording camera, and together they determined the device was not capable of recording or used in such a manner.
