UPDATE: Police Say Man Tased While Trespassing

UPDATED (March 20)—Anne Arundel County police say the man tased on Tuesday night was trespassing in a neighborhood where he was banned.

According to AACPD spokesperson Justin Mulcahy, shortly after 7:30 p.m., an officer patrolling Freetown Villages saw a man known to be banned from the community. The officer recognized the man from previous encounters.

The man entered a vehicle parked at Liberty Circle and Whitaker Road. A few minutes after parking, the officer saw the man in the passenger seat of the vehicle traveling near Whitaker Road, so the officer conducted  a traffic stop.

During the stop, the officer asked that the man exit the vehicle, which started the incident.

"The suspect, who was uncooperative and argumentative, aggressively approached the officer with both of his fists clinched in an aggressive manner," said Mulcahy.

The man struggled as the two officers attempted to place him under arrest, and one of the officers deployed a taser to prevent the suspect from injuring himself and the officers.

An emergency crew transported the man to Harbor Hospital to be examined, as is standard procedure after a tasing, according to Mulcahy.

Police identified the man as Deandre Lee Dorsey, 22, of Glen Burnie, and charged him with trespassing and resisting arrest. Dorsey has since been released from Harbor Hospital.

According to court documents, Dorsey has been charged with trespassing, assault, reckless endangerment and possessing a handgun on several occasions since 2010.
