Police to Charge Man With Attempted Murder of Wife

Anne Arundel County police reportedly plan to charge a Brooklyn Park man with attempted murder after they say he .

William Cleveland Ward, 43, was in custody and under supervision at the Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore as of Monday morning. Police said they will also charge him with first-degree assault once he is released.

Both Ward and his wife were listed in serious but stable condition as of Monday morning, according to a police press release.

Officers responded to the 300 block of Orchard Avenue in Brooklyn Park at about 8:05 p.m. Sunday for a reported domestic assault and stabbing, police officials said.

Once on the scene, officers found Ward inside the home suffering from apparent self-inflicted stab wounds and his wife, a 37-year-old woman, suffering from multiple stab wounds.

Medics took Ward and his wife to shock trauma. Detectives investigating the incident spoke with witnesses, executed warrants and gathered evidence leading to the charges brought against Ward.
