School Bus Gets Stuck in Ditch on Solley Road, Students Transferred to Replacement Bus

Some Solley Elementary students had an eventful first day of school, as they experienced an earthquake, evacuating and re-entering the building and getting stuck in a ditch on their bus.

First day of the school year. Experiencing a 5.8-magnitude earthquake. Evacuating and re-entering the school building. And getting stuck in a ditch on the school bus home, according to police.

A school bus leaving Solley Elementary got stuck on Solley Road near the intersection of Chestnut Springs Lane in Glen Burnie, said Anne Arundel County Police spokesman Lt. James Fredericks. He said the bus company called police for help.

Schools spokesman Bob Mosier said there were no injuries from the incident.

"A school bus missed a stop, tried to make a U-turn, backed up and got stuck in a ditch," Mosier said. "They sent a replacement bus and transferred the [students]."
