- Baltimore Teachers Union President, Diamonté Brown and Baltimore School leadership sent a letter for City School calling for virtual learning. The letter proposed virtual classes until Jan. 7., amid a surge in COVID-19 cases in schools. Teachers and students reported not feeling safe as more cases are confirmed. But school officials are saying differently. “Our schools are much safer than the city at large,” said Alison Perkins-Cohen, Chief of Staff for Baltimore City Public Schools. (Baltimore CBS)

- On Dec. 20, The Board of Education of Anne Arundel County held a public workshop to learn more from Superintendent George Arlotto about changes to quarantining of students as a result of exposure to persons with COVID-19 and to contact tracing protocols. The workshop discussed changes brought by the Board’s approval of a motion at its most recent meeting that students who have been determined to be close contacts of a COVID-positive case and who are asymptomatic should not be quarantined beginning in January. - Police arrested a man for car theft at the EXXON Gas station in Glen Burnie. On Dec. 19, a man was walking to the store when a suspect got into his vehicle. The victim ran back to his car in an attempt to prevent the suspect from taking his vehicle. The suspect pointed a handgun at the victim and drove off. Officers patrolling the Northern District observed the stolen vehicle and suspect on Belle Grove Road in Brooklyn. Officers stopped the vehicle and found the driver to be in possession marijuana and property belonging to the victim. The driver was arrested and charged accordingly. (Police Press)
