Here are the top 3 stories in Glen Burnie today:

  1. A labor shortage has led to millions of job openings, which means workers have more options. Companies like Amazon and UPS are on hiring sprees. Recently, both businesses announced they're hiring over 100,000 seasonal workers. And while sign-on bonuses or other incentives are becoming more common, they’re also being used as bait in many job scams. (Wmar2news)
  2. It's the season for giving and Next Day Floors is helping families in need. They hosted a Toys for Tots event today at their store on East Ordinance Road in Glen Burnie. They collected toys, and of course, Santa Claus made an early appearance, so kids could take a picture with him. Bonnie Riddle of Next Day Floors talked about how important this is. "Believe it or not, I think COVID-19 has taught us one thing; we're all family. We have to take care of one another, no matter what. I mean, people, we've lost jobs; we've lost loved ones. If nothing else you want to continue to help one another through these hard times, I mean there's people out there that need." (wmar2news.com)
  3. Wondering what's in store for high school teams from the Glen Burnie area? Patch and ScoreStream have partnered to bring you all of the week's upcoming games. Maryland and the Glen Burnie area are filled with high school rivalries and powerhouse teams that make for some great local matches. Among the local games coming up soon, the Glen Burnie High School Gophers are facing the Northeast High School Eagles on Friday, Dec 17.
