SHA Expects Route 100 On-Ramp to Open Mid-Fall

State Highway Administration officials closed the ramp more than a week ago.

The State Highway Administration (SHA) recently announced that the Route 100 west on-ramp at Ritchie Highway southbound will not re-open until mid-fall.

when police noticed the roadway looked unsafe, minutes before the road collapsed causing a sinkhole.

According to an SHA press release, they will need to relace 180 feet of concrete drainage pipe. In order to do the replacement, SHA will have to excavate the damaged culvert pipe, backfill it, pave the roadway and re-stripe it.

A temporary detour is in place taking drivers traveling southbound on Ritchie Highway to Mountain Road and then onto Route 100 west.

SHA estimates the repair will cost about $500,000.
