Hubble's One-Millionth Observation Got There with a Shuttle Launch

More than 200 Hubble images. What better way to remember with our Goddard neighbors as we head into the final shuttle launch Friday.

Our corner of the third rock witnessed its share of firework sky displays on July 4. While out beyond the bursting colors, watching quietly in space, the Hubble Space Telescope made its one-millionth science observation.

As NASA heads toward its final shuttle launch Friday, the Hubble Space Telescope orbits us in space, 21 years after it was carried to its destination on the shuttle Discover (STS-31).

And the Hubble Space Telescope Program resides right here in Greenbelt at the NASA Goddard Space Flight Center.
