New Forest Preserve Sign Warns Do Not Hunt

Do not hunt, do not maintain trails and do not remove plants are among the warnings in new Greenbelt forest preserve signs.

Greenbelt City Council met Monday, July 11, and voted 7-0 to approve a new reglatory sign recommended by the Forest Preserve Advisory Board (FPAB).

The FPAB recommendation included making the sign resemble the redwood colored, wood routed entrance and identification signs used at most city facilities and parks in Greenbelt.

The new sign will spell out do nots, notifying and reminding residents of Forest Preserve regulations. The rules listed will specify:

  • Dump or Litter
  • Clear or Maintain Trails
  • Use Bicycles or Motor Vehicles
  • Camp, Cook or Light Fires
  • Hunt, Trap or Harm Wildlife
  • Remove or Damage Plants
  • Build Bridges, Dams or Other Structures
