• Fiscal Issues Lead City to Pilot SAYT Program: Part One (greenbeltnewsreview.com) — Greenbelt is launching a mandatory year-long “Save as You Throw” trash pilot in January 2026 to close a growing waste collection budget deficit and rising landfill fees. The program will charge city trash-served households based on how much trash they generate, with special bags sold through local stores and added efforts to boost recycling, composting, and fairer cost-sharing across Greenbelt neighborhoods and businesses.
