UPDATED: 7-Eleven Opens This Weekend
Havre de Grace's newest convenience store opens this weekend on Union Avenue.

UPDATED (3:10 p.m.)—Visitors and residents of downtown Havre de Grace won't have to go far for a Slurpee anymore.

A city official confirmed to Thursday evening that the final permits had been approved for a Friday opening of the new store—the second 7-Eleven in , but the first major chain in the city's downtown arts and entertainment district.
Patch first reported the store would open Friday, but the doors now are expected to open Saturday. Permits had been approved for a Friday opening.

The store was built to fit into the downtown landscape, with a to sit along Union Avenue.
The store will not have gas pumps, unlike on Ontario Street near U.S. Route 40, due to its proximity to the .
Thursday, of the 1997 Paresi Study. The location, viewed as a crucial part of the city as the entrance to the historic downtown area, has been a focal point of developers and city officials for years. It has served many roles, most notably as a flower market over the past two decades.
There is an adjoining property between the 7-Eleven and the Amtrak line that is also earmarked for development. As of Friday, there was no tenant lined up for the neighboring property.
