SOFTBALL: Thompson Grand Slam Powers Warriors

hit a grand slam and Riley Arnold threw a complete game as the softball team defeated Sparrows Point, 13-2, on Monday at .

With the victory, Havre de Grace advances to a Class 1A North semifinal Wednesday. The time and location of that game is to be determined. The No. 4 seed Warriors will face either No. 8 Western Tech or No. 1 Baltimore Freedom Academy.

Havre de Grace scored four times in the first, once in the second and eight times in the third in the five-inning game.

Arnold picked up her first playoff win, striking out two and hitting one batter while allowing five hits. 

Thompson was 2-for-3, adding a single to her grand slam home run. She scored twice and drove in five runs.

Arnold added a single and a double in four at-bats, driving in three runs and scoring another.

Kaitlyn Husfelt sinced twice, driving in a pair of runs and scoring another.

Dana Teufer singled twice and scored a run.

Kelsey McRoberts had a triple in three at-bats.

Hailey Bethke walked, while Rebecca Ashman (three runs, two walks) ahd Taylor Smith (two runs, walk) were held hitless in four at bats each.
