Message from Marsha Howes, District 1 No Labels Citizen Leader <marshadhowes@gmail.com>:
This is intended to share information about the grass roots organization No Labels, a group of Republicans, Democrats and Independents dedicated to a simple proposition: We want our government to work again. We've had enough with government in Washington DC that is no longer solving the problems facing America: our tax system, budget problems, immigration laws, etc. No Labels supports reforms, leaders and legislation that will help fix America's broken government and break the stranglehold of the extremes that currently dominate our political process. In early December 2011, No Labels presented its Make Congress Work Action Plan featuring twelve common sense proposals. Some proposals include: up or down vote on presidential appointments within 90 days of nomination; no pledge but the oath of office; bipartisan seating during State of the Union speechs and on House and Senate committees; and No budget, No pay, a bill introduced in December that states if Congress doesn't make spending and budget decisions on time, they shouldn't get paid on time either. The most basic responsibility of Congress is deciding how much money the government takes in and how much it spends. Congress has passed its spending bills on time only four times since 1952. In the last 14 years, annual spending bills have been submitted an average of four months late. The result of this is a wasteful and inefficient government. The bill (S 1981 and HR 3643) will be heard on March 14, 2012 before the Homeland Security & Government Operations Committee. For more information, see www.nolabels.org
