• Maryland Son Killed Mother In Heated Family Fight In Laurel, Police Say (dailyvoice.com) — Police say a woman was found fatally injured inside a home on Gorman Avenue in Laurel late Saturday night, and her adult son has been arrested and charged with first-degree murder. Officers discovered the victim during a welfare check and quickly took the suspect into custody. Authorities have not yet released details on his next court appearance.
   

• Maryland man charged after mother found dead in late-night domestic fight (shorenewsnetwork.com) — Police say a 22-year-old man has been charged with first-degree murder after his mother was found dead in their Laurel home on Gorman Avenue late Saturday night. Officers responding to a welfare check discovered the woman with trauma, and the son was arrested at the scene as detectives continue investigating the domestic dispute.
   

• Popular fast-food chain is closing locations across the U.S. (silive.com) — Arby’s has quietly closed more than a dozen restaurants nationwide, including one in Laurel meaning local fans will lose their nearest spot for roast beef sandwiches. The chain is trimming locations after a recent sales dip and rising costs, though most closures so far are outside Maryland. Laurel residents may need to travel farther for their Arby’s fix.
