Residences at Vantage Point Hosts Series on Planning for the Future

Three free sessions feature expert advice on solo aging, retirement living options, and rightsizing and selling a home in today's market

Residences at Vantage Point is hosting a new Compass Seminar Series, including three informative sessions designed to help people plan for the future during retirement.

Joy Loverde, author of “Who Will Take Care of Me When I’m Old” and the bestselling “The Complete Eldercare Planner,” is the headliner on Thursday, Sept. 12. Loverde will lead two sessions. At 10:30 a.m., she will speak with older adults about “solo aging” and what is important to plan in advance. That evening at 6:30 p.m., she will talk with adult children and caregivers about “Helping Your Parents Even When They Refuse Help.”

Loverde’s evening session will include separate entertainment for older adults while their children and other caregivers are discussing eldercare.

With over 30 years experience as a media spokesperson, Loverde’s appearances include the TODAY Show, Good Morning America, CBS Early Show, ABC News, Fox News, National Public Radio, SiriusXM, and others.

“Retirement Living Options” is set for Thursday, Sept. 26, 10:30 a.m. Presented by Patti Hutton, Director of Marketing for Residences at Vantage Point, the topics will include:

  • What are my options?
  • What are the financial structures?
  • What should I consider when researching senior living options?
  • Important insights into how to make the best decision for you and your family
  • What is a Life Plan/Continuing Care Retirement Community?
  • Contract types, pricing options and how do they compare to staying in my own home
  • Question & Answer session with current residents

Karen Lawlor and Beth Ditman of the Wendy Slaughter Team will present “Rightsizing & Selling a Home in Today’s Market” on Thursday, Oct. 10, 10:30 a.m. Topics will include:

  • What is Rightsizing
  • What is most important to me right now (experiences, people, things, etc.)?
  • What do I want to accomplish (travel, life-long learning, wellness, etc.)?
  • Does my current home meet my needs today (less maintenance, ability to age in place)?
  • How do I take the fist steps toward rightsizing my life?
  • What’s going on in the local real estate market?
  • Is now a good time to sell?
  • What about interest rates?
  • How do I choose the right Realtor?
  • Does my home need improvements before I sell?

Residences at Vantage Point is home to over 250 residents. It was founded in 1990 and is a nonprofit serving people age 60 and above. Managed by Life Care Services, the community includes a variety of residential living arrangements from studio to two-bedroom deluxe apartments.
