"We are so thrilled to have Erickson Senior Living be our first Presenting Sponsor for the Howard County Walk," says Development Manager Gabi Shifflett. "Their Charlestown community has a special place in my heart since it was my Nanna's home for many years. Before moving into Charlestown, my Nanna was a caregiver for my grandfather who had Alzheimer's. Though my Nanna passed earlier this year, I know she will be with us on September 21, our Howard County Walk Day and what would have been her 98th birthday."
Promise Garden Ceremony
The large pinwheel flowers that each participant receives are raised during the Promise Garden Ceremony that kicks off the Walk. The colors denote how Alzheimer's has affected their lives: blue-living with a diagnosis; yellow-providing care; orange-supporting the fight to end Alzheimer's; and purple- lost someone to the disease.
