September 26 Latino Community Forum on Dementia to help caregivers
Information and dementia resources will be available for family caregivers at the September 26 Latino Community Forum on Dementia.
The Alzheimer's Association hosts a Latino Community Forum on Dementia on Thursday, September 26, 2024, from 5 to 7:30 p.m. at Laurel Community Center, 9411 Whiskey Bottom Road, Laurel 20723.
The free bilingual event during the dinner hour includes a light meal.
More than 7 million Americans are living with Alzheimer's and other dementia, including more than 127,200 Marylanders. "Unfortunately, Latinos are affected by dementia at one-and-a-half times the rate as White people," says Marlyn Massey, diversity and inclusion program manager. "Our goal is to make information accessible to family caregivers to empower them when make health care decisions."
