Episcopal Diocese of MD, Morgan State Launch New Summer Program for Baltimore High School Students
"Sutton Scholars" enrichment program to prepare incoming ninth graders for success through an education in life skills.

From the Episcopal Diocese of Maryland:
A new summer enrichment program for rising high school students is underway at Morgan State University. The Episcopal Diocese of Maryland and Morgan State University's Memorial Chapel have partnered to launch the innaugural Bishop Eugene Sutton High School Scholars Summer Enrichment Program. The program takes 30 Baltimore City ninth graders, entering their first year of high school this fall, through a four week curriculum that teaches them life skills, also called “soft skills,” to help them succeed in high school. Mentors and instructors will help these young people develop critical thinking, emotional intelligence, financial awareness, work ethic and communication skills. An open house is planned Friday, July 15, 2016, 10:00 AM, on Morgan's campus. Members of the wider community, business executives and elected leaders have been invited to meet the scholars as they will have completed their first week of the program. Refreshments will be served.
