Comptroller Peter Franchot will appear at Mondawmin Mall on Wednesday to announce plans for <a href="http://www.comp.state.md.us/shopmd/default.asp" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">Shop Maryland</a>, the state's tax-free week.  From 12:01 a.m. Aug. 12 through midnight Aug. 18, customers don't have to pay the state's six percent sales tax for qualifying clothing and shoes that costs $100 or less, according to a news release from the comptrollers office. A list of  exempt and taxable items can be viewed on the <a href="http://www.marylandtaxes.com" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">comptroller's website. </a> Franchot, local elected officials and retail industry representatives will be at center court in the mall at 10:30 a.m. to provide details, the release reads.
