1 Dead, 1 Hurt After Severn Crash: Police

A Gambrills woman, 75, is dead after a Severn crash. The other driver was hospitalized, police said.

SEVERN, MD — Police said a woman, 75, was pronounced dead Sunday after a two-car crash in Severn.

Officers said Linda Catherine Mierzeski of Gambrills died on the scene.

Authorities said the other driver was hospitalized, but he is expected to survive.

Police said the collision happened around 2:35 p.m. on Telegraph Road at Maryland Route 100.

Officers said Mierzeski was driving a 2016 Chevrolet Cruze north on Telegraph Road, and a 2006 Honda Civic was exiting the westbound ramp of Route 100 onto southbound Telegraph Road.

The compact cars collided head-on in the middle of the intersection, authorities said.

Police said the Honda driver was taken to the University of Maryland R Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore. He is listed in stable condition.

Officers are still investigating.
