6 Awesome Things About Band Camp

It's a fun, but exhausting rite of passage for many students.

The award-winning Arundel High Marching Band and Color Guard are getting set for the fall season this week, as band camp gets underway.

For many students, band camp is a challenging, but memorable experience, as they form friendships and perfect their musical skills.

Band camp at Arundel stretches into next week, and the preview show will be held on August 16. You can see the band perform at halftime of home football games this fall, as well as several competitions throughout the year.

Here's a look at some of the great things about band camp.

Quoting the Movie
American Pie - "This one time, at band camp..."

The Band Director's Name is Mr. Burns -  Oh, if only it were that Mr. Burns. Imagine... "Woodwinds, get yourselves together! Not good enough. Smithers... release the hounds!"

Heat Exhaustion - It's 95 degrees and you're walking around with a tuba. What's the worst that could happen?

Sunburn - This year's band camp is sponsored by Coppertone.

Picking on the Color Guard - Wait, the guard members get to carry rifles? No fair.

Not Long After It's All Over, School Starts - Congratulations! You survived band camp. No it's time for...calculus class.
