Anne Arundel County Disability Issues Commission Earns Legacy Award
The Volunteer Project Hall of Fame Legacy Award recognized the commission's work on Disability Awareness Day.

In a Volunteer Project Hall of Fame celebration luncheon on Nov. 13, the Anne Arundel County Volunteer Center and the Coordinators of Volunteers of Anne Arundel County presented the Anne Arundel County Commission on Disability Issues with a Legacy Award celebrating its work on Disability Awareness Day.
Established in 1995, the commission’s annual Disability Awareness Day showcases the different disability-related services available within the community with interactive exhibits, live entertainment and informational resources on issues facing the disabled. It has grown to become one of the county’s largest events.
Disability Awareness Day Co-Chairperson Ginger Palmer accepted the award on behalf of the commission, and Pamela Jordan, director of the Anne Arundel County Department of Aging and Disabilities, served as the event’s keynote speaker.

“On behalf of the Commission on Disability Issues, we are extremely grateful for the work the Volunteer Center does and are honored to be recognized as one of the county’s great resources in improving the lives of our citizens,” added Chair of the Commission Joelle Ridgeway.
