Board to Consider Crofton School Redistricting
The school board will vote on what plan to take to public hearing.

The Anne Arundel County Board of Education on Wednesday will vote on whether to take a school redistricting plan for Crofton to public hearings.Â
The board will vote on a proposal designed to reduce overcrowding at Nantucket Elementary School. Thus far, it is the only proposal before the board.Â
The redistricting plan comes with the recommendation of Superintendent Kevin Maxwell, and is identical to one presented by a committee of parents and community members last fall.Â

The plan calls for:Â
- Moving students from the area of Chelmsford Drive and Johns Hopkins Drive from Nantucket to Crofton Meadows Elementary.
- Moving future students from the Wilson's Grove community to Nantucket Elementary.Â
- Moving students from the area of Walden Drive from Nantucket Elementary to Crofton Elementary.Â
The date of any public hearings have not yet been set, and the board could still consider any redistricting plans from the community. It must approve a redistricting plan of some kind by April 30.Â
