Foley Takes Over the Reins at Fort Meade

Col. Brian Foley officially took command of the installation during a ceremony Thursday.

Fort Meade traded a New Jersey native for a man from Massachusetts on Thursday, as it held a formal ceremony to welcome the new installation commander.

Col. Brian Foley took over the garrison command from the retiring Col. Edward Rothstein before a large crowd of service members and community leaders.

"I'm honored and humbled," Foley said. "It's a wonderful opportunity for me, and I'm very much looking forward to this job and continuing the partnerships we have."

Foley comes to Fort Meade from Fort Bragg in North Carolina, where he was commander of the 50th Signal Battalion. He was commissioned into the Army in 1990 after going through the ROTC program at Worcester Polytechnic Institute. He is a native of Massachusetts and is married with two children.
