Gallery: Severn Goes Back to School
Hundreds of children rose early and marched into their respective schools Tuesday morning, ranging from kindergarden to high school freshmen.
More than 600 high school freshmen marched into Tuesday to get familiar with the mammoth-sized campus and their new class schedules.
Most of the young students attended Old Mill's campus during their middle school years but as high school students, they get to access a completely different part of the building.
Lafayette Harvey, the unofficial face of Old Mill, greeted almost every student through his reflective sunglasses. The school resource officer welcomed students along with other members of the faculty and staff.

Sophomores and upperclassmen won't arrive until tomorrow, said Principal Secretary Tammy Perry. At least one student didn't get the memo.
"I just learned today is only for freshman," said one embarrassed boy to a friend after realizing his mistake.

Over at , a more positive and vibrant atmosphere filled the halls. literally greeted almost every student that walked through his school.
Small hands of excitement lashed upwards at the invitation of a high-five from the principal while little giggles of bits of laughter echoed through the halls.
After arriving in their classrooms, many students were given breakfast and got right to work. For the students of Jennifer Queen's first grade class, Queen's contagiously upbeat attitude provided a welcome releif to students who feared the first day of school.
