Some Odenton residents got a bit of a shock recently when they found this swath of trees cut down near their backyards. In an age where every piece of land is a target for development, this had some people concerned.
As it turns out, the stretch of trees--nestled back in a residential area not far from Annapolis and Telegraph roads-- was removed by BGE as part of routine maintenance on a gas line right-of-way.
A company spokeswoman said removing the trees will prevent roots from damaging the natural gas line. Similar vegetation removal also took place alongside the nearby BGE substation.
