I-97 Crash Halts Highway, Sends 5 to Emergency Care

Four children and one adult sustained serious but not-life threatening injuries.

A violent accident on I-97 shut down the major highway for about 45 minutes Thursday morning after a high-speed, rear-end collision sent four children and one adult to John’s Hopkins and Shock Trauma.

Sgt. Larry White of the Maryland State Police said the accident involved two Toyota sedans and confirmed that one of the vehicles flipped as a result of the collision.

Four children were sent to the pediatric center at John’s Hopkins and a 55-year-old woman was taken to the Shock Trauma Center from the crash, according to Lt. Cliff Kooser, a spokesman for the Anne Arundel Fire Department.
