LISTEN: 911 Calls from Severn Trench Collapse

Neighbors call in to report a man trapped underneath more than 7 feet of dirt on Leyton Lane.

The Anne Arundel County Fire Department has released the recording of 911 calls relating to a fatal trench collapse in Severn on Monday.

The recording is more than 6 minutes in length and conveys a sense of urgency from neighbors as others in the background worked to dig out the 25-year-old construction worker buried in the 7-foot trench.

The worker was identified as Armando Zuniga-Esquina of Silver Spring. He was on scene working to construct a deck at the home on Leyton Lane.

At one point neighbors said they could still see the man's exposed head, but were unable to pull him out. His body was later pulled from the trench after more than three hours.
