Man Acquitted of Child Abuse in Methadone Case

Severn resident Paul Brooks was found guilty of some lesser crimes after his child accidentally ingested the drug.

A Severn man was acquitted of child abuse charges stemming from an incident in which his 5-year-old son accidentally ingested methadone, The Capital  reported.

However, Paul Brooks, 28, was found guilty on a number of lesser charges, including neglect and reckless endangerment.

The boy was hospitalized but recovered after ingesting the methadone during a car ride back from Baltimore, where Brooks had bought the drug, prosecutors said.
