Man Charged With Armed Robbery Of Glen Burnie Gas Station
A 19-year-old man was charged for an armed robbery at a Shell gas station in Glen Burnie, police said.

GLEN BURNIE, MD — A 19-year-old man was charged for an armed robbery at a Shell gas station in Glen Burnie, police said.
McCoy Smith, of Glen Burnie, is accused of robbing the Shell gas station at 345 Hospital Dr. in Glen Burnie at about 6:30 p.m. Tuesday.
Police said Smith entered the store, displayed a long black gun and demanded cash from the register. The employee complied and Smith fled the business with the money, police said.

An officer spotted Smith at the Wawa on Veterans Highway in Millersville about two hours after the robbery. Smith was seen carrying a long gun, similar to the one described by the previous robbery victims, police told Patch. Smith tried to flee the area when he realized he had been spotted by the officer, but he was quickly apprehended following a short foot pursuit.
Police believe Smith also attempted to rob a Gulf gas station on Veterans Highway several minutes before he arrived at Wawa.

A search warrant was executed at the suspect's home, where additional evidence from the robberies was recovered, police said.
