Now, That's What I Call a Truck

Have you seen the Fort Meade police department's mobile command unit?

I was over at Fort Meade Thursday for the change of command ceremony and encountered this bad boy parked near the parade field.

This is the Fort Meade Police Department's mobile command post. It's a massive Ford pickup with three --yes, three--cabs.

The truck is nicknamed "The Beast" and was introduced last spring. According to a report on the Fort Meade website, the truck serves as the department's mobile command post, essentially allowing emergency personnel to work anywhere. The truck is equipped with cameras–including one on a 30-foot arm–plus satellites and computers.

The chassis is worth about $100,000 and there's about $200,000 worth of equipment attached.
