O'Malley Promotes Cyber Agenda at Hanover Firm

Gov. Martin O'Malley on Tuesday paid a visit to a Hanover company to promote the state's efforts to create jobs in the cybersecurity space. 

O'Malley toured the offices of KEYW Corp. to highlight the growing number of Maryland companies involved in protecting companies and the government from cyber attacks. The governor said there are 11,000 companies in Maryland involved in cybersecurity. 

Maryland has been working to leverage the presence of U.S. Cyber Command at Fort Meade and spur other cyber-related growth in the state.

In his 2014 budget, O'Malley included $3 million for tax credits to stimulate private investment in early-stage cybersecurity technology companies in the state.

The governor also took time to announce the hiring of Jeani Park as Maryland’s Director of Cyber Development. Park will represent Maryland at RSA, a large cybersecurity conference in San Francisco.
