Route 175 To Be Closed Thursday Morning

Anne Arundel County Police announced that Disney Road, between Route 175 and Citadel Drive, will be closed Thursday morning during rush hour due to the presence of the Westboro Baptist Church near Meade High School.

The group expressed their intention to demonstrate at the intersection of Route 175 and Disney Road, a move that could result in increased delays for morning commuters, according to police.

Route 175 could also see delays near Ridge Road and Reece Road due to the closing near the intersection.

The Westboro demonstrators will not be allowed on Fort Meade to ensure the safety of the community, students and faculty, said police. However, the department emphasized that the majority of the Kansas-based protesters have been peaceful and lawful in previous instances.
