Severn Teen Gets Probation in Toy Gun Case

Dejon Malik Arnold avoided jail time in the case where he was accused of pointing a fake gun at a boy at a bus stop.

A Severn teen has been sentenced to three years probation in a case where he was accused of pointing a toy gun at a 12-year-old.

Dejon Malik Arnold, 18, avoided jail time after pleading guilty to second-degree assault, the Capital-Gazette reported.

Prosecutors alleged that Arnold approached a 12-year-old boy near a bus stop in Severn on Nov. 28 and pointed a toy gun at him. The boy then ran and told his father.

As part of his sentence, Arnold was ordered to peform 24 hours of community service and complete his GED. If he violates the terms of his probation, he could serve jail time.
