State Board of Ed Finalists Include Arundel High Student

An Arundel High student has been named a finalist to serve as a student representative on the Maryland State Board of Education. 

Christian Hodges, a junior at Arundel, could be appointed by Gov. Martin O'Malley to serve during the 2013-14 school year. 

Benjamin Feshbach of Thomas S. Wootton High School in Montgomery County is the other candidate. The pair were selected by the Maryland Association of Student Councils, which had been presented five candidates. 

“I am honored to have been chosen by my peers as a finalist for student member of the State Board of Education,” Hodges said in a press release. “It has been my dream to sit on the State Board since I entered high school, and now I am one step closer to reaching this dream and accomplishing this goal."

Hodges is already serving a two-year term with the National Association of Student Councils, representing the mid-Atlantic region. He is also a vice president with the Chesapeake Regional Association of Student Councils.
