Thanksgiving 2020 Shooting: Cops Looking For Info On Man's Death

SEVERN, MD — The Anne Arundel County Police Department is urging anyone with information on the shooting death of a 20-year-old man following a Thanksgiving 2020 football game to come forward.
On Thursday, Nov. 26, 2020, a game between local neighborhoods took place in an open field behind the 1700 block of Meade Village Circle Road, and a large crowd was present to watch it, a preliminary investigation has found.
Officers received reports of a shooting in the area of the game, and when they responded at around 1:30 p.m. that day, they located two people suffering from gunshot wounds.

One victim, 20-year-old Louis Guy Newman III, of Glen Burnie, was found off a paved pathway next to the large field, police said. Newman was transported to a local hospital, where he died from his injuries.

An autopsy determined Newman's cause of death was a gunshot wound, with the manner being homicide, officials said.
"At the conclusion of the game is when some type of altercation occurred in which gunfire erupted and the two victims were shot and one was killed," police said in a news release. "The Anne Arundel County Police are aware there are several witnesses to this violent holiday tragedy and are asking for the community's assistance in solving this crime."
Police said Newman's murder is still an open investigation, and said anyone with information on it should call the Anne Arundel County Homicide Unit at (410) 222-4731. Police are offering up to a $10,000 reward for information.

"Homicide detectives know that over time relationships and loyalties change," police said. "They also know that there are people who have yet to come forward with vital information about Mr. Newman's murder. Mr. Newman deserves justice and his loved ones deserve closure."
