Three men are accused of using a tire iron to threaten people in incidents in Severn and Hanover.
Anne Arundel County police have arrested three Glen Burnie men in connection with a string of robbery attempts in the Hanover and Severn area Monday afternoon.
Police said that three men either successfully robbed or attempted to rob people in three separate incidents near the Sam's Club in Severn and in the Arundel Mills area. Officers found the men at a marina in Edgewater and arrested them on robbery charges.
Officers first responded at about 4:10 p.m. to the Sam's Club, where they spoke to a 49-year-old woman who said she was approached by a man who tried to grab her purse away from her. The woman said she resisted and was dragged toward a teal car, but the suspect drove away without taking anything.

While police were interviewing this victim, they got a call about two other possible robberies in the Hanover area.
At 4:35 p.m., officers responded to a call about a robbery attempt in the parking lot near the Muvico Theater at Arundel Mills. They spoke to a 28-year-old man and his wife, who said that two men approached them and grabbed the woman's arm, demanding money. One of the suspects displayed a tire iron, but the male victim grabbed it from him. The suspects drove off in a teal Nissan Maxima.

About 40 minutes later, officers responded to a similar robbery near the mall. A 20-year-old man was walking near the Baja Fresh and Safeway when two men came up to him and announced a robbery. One man swung a tire iron at the victim but missed. The men took the victim's iPhone then drove off, police said.
Victims in these cases provided identifying information and a license plate number for the car. Following an investigation, officers found the three men at a marina on Old South River Road in Edgewater.
The suspects have been identified as Richard Phelps, 30, of Baltimore; Carroll A. Fulwood, 29, of Glen Burnie and James Ross, 31, of Glen Burnie. All three men have been charged with robbery and related crimes.
Note: A booking photo of Fulwood was not immediately available.
