Three-Month Construction Project to Cause Delays for Fort Meade Commuters

A BGE construction project will cause road shifts and closures along Reece Road directly near the main entrance to Fort Meade.

A construction project on Reece Road could cause addition headaches for commuters traveling to Fort Meade, according to a new release from the installation’s public affairs office.

Workers from Baltimore Gas and Electric “will begin construction of an electric duct bank and cable project which will run along Reece Road between Rt. 175 to Jacobs Road,” according to the release.

Drivers who use Reece Road to approach the front gate of Fort Meade are advised to find alternate routes as lane closures and shifts are expected to cause potentially heavy delays.

In an attempt to minimize the project’s effect on the morning commute, construction hours will be limited to 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. during the weekdays.

However, drivers may want to re-route their commutes for the next few months, as winter weather could cause an additional layer of complications to the project that is expected to take two to three months to complete.
