Wanted: 'Bite-Sized' Projects for the Odenton Town Center

Late last month, a county official came to Odenton to explain that there is between $6 million and $7 million that could be spend on things to improve the infrastructure in town. 

The money comes from impact fees, which are charged to developers who build. 

Technically, that money can be spent in an "impact fee zone" that stretches from Jessup down to Davidsonville, but there is much desire to see it spent here in Odenton. 

The Odenton Town Center Plan Oversight Committee—which plays a key role in how the town is being transformed—said it will begin putting together a list of projects that could benefit from this available money. 

The key, according to county officials and the committee, is to find projects that are manageable and offer a decent "bang for the buck." In other words, don't expect the money to be used to widen Route 175. Instead, find "bite-sized" projects, like the connection of two sidewalks, or a new turn lane at a congested intersection, or some streetscape improvements. 

I'd like to hear what residents think about this.
