When: Services on Tuesday and Wednesday
Where: Local churches. Check our directory for a list of churches in the area. Each will have its own plan to usher in the Lenten season. Ark & Dove Presbyterian Church and Nichols-Bethel United Methodist Church are among those with pancake dinners for Shrove Tuesday.

West County Republicans Discuss County Exec Opening

When: Thursday, 6 p.m.
Where: West County Area Library
Details: OK, not the most romantic thing to do on Valentine's Day. But you may get a sneak peek at some of the people considering a run for the county executive office. Invited guests could include Kendel Ehrlich, wife of former Gov. Robert L. Ehrlich Jr.; Del. Steve Schuh (R-Gibson Island) and 2012 U.S. Senate candidate Dan Bongino. 

Family Portraits at Severn Methodist Church

When: Thursday, Friday and Saturday
Where: Severn United Methodist Church
Details: Get $5 off your photos if you bring an item for the local food pantry. Also, get a free 8 x 10 and no sitting fee. 

Arundel Basketball at Glen Burnie

When: Friday, 5 p.m.
Where: Glen Burnie High School
Details: The Arundel boys have already clinched the regular season county title. They play at Southern Wednesday and finish up here against Glen Burnie. Can they run the table?
