What to Do This Weekend

A quick-hit list of things going on in and around the Severn area this weekend.

What’s on your weekend agenda? If you’re looking for some ideas, Patch has rounded up a festive list of holiday activities. There are also a few options for the Scrooges among you who are looking for a momentary escape from all the ho-ho-hoeing.

What:

When/Where: 8 a.m. Saturday at Murphy Field House, Fort Meade

Why go: The race will be a great way to burn off all those holiday calories and enjoy the fellowship of fellow runners. Participants each get a shirt and a prize will be awarded to the top male and female runners.

What:

When/Where: 4-8 p.m. Saturday and Sunday at 404 Darlene Ave., Linthicum

Why go: To raise money for Linthicum Heights United Methodist Church's outreach program and take in 25 years worth of Christmas decorations.

Cost: $4

 

What:

When/Where: 6-8 p.m. Saturday. The parade can be viewed from a variety of places including City Dock, the Naval Academy seawall and the Spa Creek Bridge

Why go: This annual event is fun for the whole family and features boats all decked out for the holidays.

Cost: Free

 

What: FIRST Robotics Lego League Showdown

When/Where: 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday at

Why go: Watch as the robots that elementary and middle school students have built are challenged to a series of tasks. The Lego League series is set up like a sports event, so cheerleading is encouraged.

Cost: Free to spectators

 

What:

When/Where: 8-11 a.m. Saturday at , 400 Benfield Rd., Severna Park

Why go: Hosted by Boy Scout Troop 918, this breakfast with Santa features pancakes, sausage, juice and coffee.  Bring a camera; photos are welcome. Proceeds benefit Boy Scout Troop 918 and SPAN (Serving People Across Neighborhoods).

Cost: Suggested donation of $5/person (children under 3 free) or maximum donations of $20/family.
