Woman Struck by Car Near Strawberry Lake Way

The 69-year-old woman is in critical but stable condition after the incident early Wednesday morning.

An Odenton woman suffered life-threatening injuries Wednesday morning after being struck by car while walking in the area of Strawberry Lake Way and Black Gum Way.

Anne Arundel County police said Ellen Sanna Foster, 69, tried to cross the street outside the designated crosswalk area at about 12:15 a.m. when she was struck by a Toyota Prius. The driver of the car stayed on the scene and called emergency officials, who rushed Foster to the Shock Trauma center in Baltimore by helicopter.

Police said that it appears the incident was the result of pedestrian error and that alcohol and the speed of the car do not appear to be contributing factors.
