Parts Of Baltimore County On Alert For Freezing Rain, Ice

Roads and sidewalks could be extremely slippery Friday night, according to the National Weather Service.

HARFORD COUNTY, MD — With temperatures dropping, forecasters have advised drivers and pedestrians to be extra careful Friday night in parts of northern and central Maryland. Anything that looks wet could be icy, according to the National Weather Service.

Especially near the Mason-Dixon Line and higher elevations, authorities say patchy ice could develop because temperatures are falling to about freezing. They will not get above freezing on Saturday, when the high is about 29 degrees in Owings Mills.

The National Weather Service issued a special weather statement for these areas based on the potential for freezing rain:

  • Carroll County
  • Cecil County
  • Frederick County
  • Harford County

Forecasters said these towns in particular could get patches of freezing rain: Ballenger Creek, Cockeysville, Frederick, Eldersburg, Elkton, Jarrettsville, Reisterstown and Westminster.
