Hazmat Crews In Owings Mills: Officials

Breaking: The hazmat situation does not pose a threat to the community, authorities said.

OWINGS MILLS, MD — A spill at a business in Owings Mills has drawn hazardous materials personnel on Sunday morning to investigate, officials say.

The liquid chlorine spill was in the 10500 block of Red Run Boulevard, fire officials reported. It was at the Hampton Inn, according to a photograph from the scene shared by the Baltimore County Fire Department.

Crews were called there at 8:39 a.m., according to authorities, who said there were no injuries and there was no threat to the community.

After 10 a.m., firefighters said they were working with the Maryland Department of the Environment to mitigate the spill, which was caused by a malfunctioning pool pump.
